A rare antique American book, Life and Adventures of Signor Blitz: Being an Account of The Authors Professional Life His Wonderful Tricks and Feats With Laughable Incidents and Adventures as a Magician, Necromancer, and Ventriloquist by Himself. With Numerous Engravings, and a Portrait of The Author on Steel with Facsimile on the title page. Author: Antonio Blitz. Published by T. Belknap, Hartford, Conn., 1872. Entered, According to Act of Congress in The Year 1871, by Belknap and Bliss. Inscribed in the print, to My American friends and Patrons in Grateful Remembrance of Their Friendship and Kindness, This Volume is Affectionately Inscribed. Signor Blitz, 1810 to 1877, born Antonio van Zandt in Deal Kent County, England, was an accomplished magician, ventriloquist (with his dummy Bobby), juggler and bird handler. He would advertise himself as a Moravian as he found he could get more work in England as a foreigner. He even perpetuated the myth in his autobiography.
