Siddur Tefilos Yisroel. New York 1864.
Israelitisches Andachts-Buch, nebst deutscher Uebersetzung. Mit neuen deutschen Gebeten.
Hebrew prayer book with facing German translation. Divided into three parts. Part one: 240 pages, containing daily and Sabbath prayers. Part two: 228 pages entitled Spruche der Vater “Sayings of the Fathers” includes Ethics of the Fathers, (Pirkei Avos) as well as Festival prayers. Part three: 32 pages, (which opens from the book’s verso) with its own title page Techinos Bnos Yeshurun, consisting of prayers to be recited by ladies in German composed by Dr. M Schlessinger.
In Part One page 198 there appears a prayer to be recited every Sabbath for the welfare of The United States of America, its President and Vice President. An additional prayer follows for the welfare of Governor and the Lieutenant Governor of the State of the New York, the Mayor and the Common Council of this City. This is followed by a prayer for the City of New York and its residents. In the spirit of American independence and patriotism, these prayers were composed to replace the customary prayer of “Ha’Nosen Teshua- He who gives Salvation unto Kings” which is traditionally recited for the wellbeing of the Monarch.
