Antique c1860s wool challis robe with a fabulous indienne motif stripe print on the front and another on the back. Measures46 inches long from top of collar to hem, 17 inches across the shoulders and 26 inch long sleeves. Edges are finished with a wool tape binding. Pocket on left front side. Construction of the garment is by hand and machine. In very good condition with minor wear and color loss to binding and under collar, and two small holes. This item was part of Laura Fisher's estate. Laura Fisher was a New York based world renowned quilt expert, dealer and author, and in offering these textiles for sale we hope to honor her legacy of style and scholarship.
