An American or European Livery Coat, c. 1840
Single-breasted, cutaway-style coat of white superfine wool, with yellow or yellowish-buff cassimere collar and cuffs, lined in body with yellow serge and with glazed linen in the sleeves. Heavy pad-stitching on interior breast lining. Original buttons metallic lace trim stripped off coat before acquired by present owner, leaving verdigris stains along edges of breast, pockets and facings. Gift of Don Troiani, 1997.
