Printed Tailor’s Schematic for a British Officer’s Coat, 1857
14 ½ x 10 inches, tipped on to a larger sheet. Printed schematic of the new uniform “tunic” or frock coat adopted in 1857 for officers in British regular infantry regiments and other foot corps and worn through 1867. The sheet has contemporary highlighting and penciled annotations relating the different distinctions in trim based on rank, as the captain’s coat is the one printed for general information as to cut. Deaccessioned and sold to benefit the Ogilby Army Museum Trust; acquired in 2000. Paper with light toning, folds with some splitting.
