ANTIQUE ENGRAVING APOSTLE MATTHEW BY BARTOLOZZI
An engraving on paper executed by Francesco Bartolozzi in the 18th century, signed in the lower right. An engraved copy of a drawing by Giovanni Francesco Barbieri, known as Guercino, 1591-1666, Italian Baroque painter. The artwork depicts a classic Christian plot of Saint Matthew listening to an angel helping him compose the text of the gospel. Brown tinted.
