The Called Out Bank - Very Scarce Brass Pattern
By J. & E. Stevens Company. Cromwell, Ct. - Circa 1900. Purchased from Margaret Hunter, From the Frank Kidd Collection. The Spanish-American War also informs the imagery of the Called Out Bank. When coins are pushed into the slot, a second soldier pops through the roof of the tent and stands at attention. It has been convincingly demonstrated that the Stevens Company never released this bank into the market for public consumption. Resolution of the conflict occurred so quickly that the bank simply wasn't ready in time for sale. As a result, very few extant specimens of the Called Out Bank are known. This is a very important piece of U. S. Military history.
