Mateh Ephraim - First edition - Zholkva, 1834

By R. Ephraim Zalman Margulies of Brod.

Fundamental halachic sefer pertaining to the months of Elul and Tishrei by R. Ephraim Zalman Margulies of Brod. Received to enormous acclaim, the Mateh Ephraim remains enormously popular with both scholars and laymen.

R. Ephraim Zalman Margulies of Brod (1761-1828), was known as one of the leading Geonim of his generation as well as a prolific writer of many important Halachic works. He served for a while as the Rav of Uhaniv, however, he resigned from the position and from then on declined to serve in the Rabbinate although he was offered many prestigious positions including the Chief Rabbinate of Frankfurt. He settled in Brody and taught a select group of outstanding students. He was also well known as a wealthy man and is often used as a classic example of Torah U’Gedulah. His works include Bais Ephraim, Tiv Gittin, Mateh Ephraim, and others.

Rare. First edition, Zholkva, 1834

Stefansky Hebrew classics 206.

Later covers, last seven pages has two holes thru with loss of text, otherwise a very good sound copy.
