WWII FORCED LABOR BADGE KARWITZ
Small badge worn by forced labor workers at the Luftwaffen-Munitionsanstalt Karwitz, embossed 'LMA.Z.B.V.5/XI 470 Karwitz'. In 1941 units of the air force of the Wehrmacht were stationed near Karwitz and in 1944 it was apparently part of the assembly of the V1 flying bomb 'wonder weapon'. The main town near Karwitz was Dannenberg (at the Elbe river). Between 1939 and 1945 some 5,000 forced laborers worked in the region. The badge is corroded but the embossing is still legible. Diameter 1 1/8 inches with a pin on the reverse.
