Antique c1850 Star Quilt with Strawberry Swag Border measuring 86x89 inches. Comprised of 9 blocks each with a Star of Bethlehem 17.5x17.5, set on point 3 by 3, with solid white square alternating blocks and setting triangles. There is a 7.5 inch border, that contains the red swag, but the strawberries or buds are not contained within the border. Fabrics include Turkey red, an early green, and pale yellow solid. White cotton solid reverse. It is hand pieced, hand appliqued, and hand quilted with many motifs double line quilted. In fair condition with several spots and stains, and the Turkey Red fabric has popped and appears to be like Swiss cheese. It appears someone may have taken a red marker to the quilt to fill in a couple of the popped areas, as seen on the back of the quilt. Please do not do this to your quilts! Still, amazing and graphic quilt with masterful hand quilting. There is a tag still attached to it from being entered in a quilt show where it won Oldest and Best Preserved Quilt in the 1950s. In house Flat Rate Shipping of $25 is a domestic shipping estimate. I will gladly combine multiple lots for your convenience and economy. Depending on how many lots I can pack, it may cost an additional $5-$10. Please feel free to contact me with any questions.
