Romeo D6670 - Large - Royal Doulton Character Jug
Romeo D6670 (brown and white coloration). Designed by David B. Biggs. Series: The Shakespearean Collection, issued 1983 - 1989. Size: 7.5"H (Large)The hero of Shakespeare's 1596 romantic play, Romeo falls in love with Juliet, the daughter of a Verona family feuding with his own. The lives of these two clandestine lovers end tragically and , with bitter irony, cause the reconciliation of the two families. The handle for the regular issue jug incorporates a dagger superimposed on a column supporting a balcony.
