Chidushei Rabbi Nissim Girona, the Ran, on tractate Bava Metzia. Printed for the first time from a manuscript owned by Rabbi Zaivel [Eiger], a relative of Rabbi Akiva Eiger. With an approbation from Rabbi Akiva Eiger verifying that the manuscript was that of the Ran. [4], 84, [16] leaves. 20 cm.
The book is adorned with scholarly comments (printed within brackets) of Rabbi Akiva Eiger. The book concludes with [16] leaves featuring a 10-leaf booklet with the novellae of Rabbi Akiva Eiger, followed by Torah thoughts from Rabbi Leib Eiger, Rabbi of Halberstat; and then of Rabbi Zaivel Eiger, Rabbi of Braunschweig. These were the first Torah novellae that Rabbi Akiva Eiger printed.
Many antiquated owner signatures on the page before the title page. Including, שייך להגאון מיכאל אריה ליב כהנא שפירא בן לאאמו"ר האבד"ק דפה ק"ק נאיישטאדט.
