Aerial Circumnavigation Record Attempt by James Mattern and Bennett Griffin: July 5-7, 1932, cover delivered by aircraft ''The Century of Progress'' from Floyd Bennett Field (Brooklyn, NY) to Harbor Grace, Newfoundland, then non-stop to Berlin, in 18:41 hours. This failed round-the-world flight attempt ended in an emergency crash landing at Borisov, suburb of Minsk (Byelorussian Soviet Republic, USSR) on July 7, 1932. They did set a record for crossing the Atlantic in 10 hours, 50 minutes. The cover has three-country franking with appropriate postal markings and bearing Mattern's lengthy inscription with his signature, mostly fresh, VF and very rare, no more then 10 items were carried, Muller #360, 50,000points, Est. $2,500-$3,000
