A RUSSIAN OIL PAINTING WINTER BY IGOR GRABAR
Igor Emmanuilovich Grabar (Russian, French, 1871-1960) oil painting on cardboard, Winter Landscape, 1904. Signed and dated lower right. Framed. Igor Grabar painted landscapes and still lifes filled with light, was an architect and art critic. It was he who redeveloped the Tretyakov Gallery and compiled its first scientific catalog. Grabar also organized exhibitions of Soviet artists abroad and worked to preserve ancient icons and frescoes.
