On the title page appears a hand-written note:
“I received from Rabbi… of Sarvar (Hungary), 1890 …HaKatan HaKaShas (= haKatan Shimon Sofer).” He was the son of the Ketav Sofer.
Rabbi Shimon Sofer served as Chief Rabbi of Erlau, (today Eger) Hungary., He was was a descendant of the prominent and holy Sofer family. Rabbi Shimon authored the book of responsa 'Hitorerut Teshuva'.
