Dog Tag State Rifle Training Battalion 8th
Erkennungsmarke (Ld.Schtz.Ausb.Batl.8) Landesschützen-Ausbildungs-Bataillon 8 - Dog Tag State Rifle Training Battalion 8th

The Landesschützen-Ersatz-Bataillon 8 was set up on March 5, 1940 in Neustadt in Oberschlesien, Military District VIII.
The battalion was subordinate to Division 408. On October 1, 1942, the battalion was divided into a Landesschützen-Ersatz-Bataillon 8 and a Landesschützen-Training-Bataillon 8. The replacement battalion remained in Neustadt, the training battalion moved to Leobschütz, also military district VIII.
In 1944, several units were set up from the two battalions and the old battalion ceased to exist. These were the Landesschützen-Ersatz-Bataillon I./8 in Neustadt, the Landesschützen-Training-Battalion I./8 in Leobschütz and on June 23, 1944 the Landesschützen-Ersatz- und Training-Battalion II./8 in Mährisch Schönberg, Military district VIII. The latter was subordinate to Division 408 after it was set up. In September 1944, the Landesschützen-Ersatz-Bataillon I./8 was transferred to Italy.
On September 29, 1944, from the Landesschützen-Ersatz- und Training-Battalion II./8 the Landesschützen-Training-Battalion III./8 in Schweidnitz, also military district VIII, was set up. Also in 1944 a state rifle battalion IV./8 was set up from the units. However, according to Ticino, it was not mentioned in the field post overview. I think this battalion got field post number 43403 with 2 companies.
The Landesschützen-Training-Battalion III./8 was mobilized in November 1944. In 1945 the Landesschützen-Ersatz-Bataillon I./8 was disbanded. The State Rifle Training Battalion III./8 was last deployed in 1945 in the 48th Infantry Division in Preßburg (Bratislava).
