"We shall Merit Salvation Soon" - Wondrous letter from the 'Berech Moshe' of Satmar.

Wondrous letter of referral handwritten and signed by the Admo"r of Satmar, Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum, author of Berech Moshe. Brooklyn, Tevet, 1996.

Written for the gaon Rabbi Ya'akov Yosef Singer, official chief rabbi of Givat Shmuel. The Admo"r requests from his followers that they draw Rabbi Ya'akov Yosef close, and support him financially "as befits a Torah scholar like him." The rabbi then blesses them: "In the merit of supporting a Torah scholar, we shall merit salvation soon..."

How astonishing it is that the Rebbe makes a huge effort for a chief rabbi designated by the Zionist state that he detests to the depths of his soul. Yet this is also so typical of the Satmar Rebbe, 'founder of a world of loving-kindness, " who, for his entire life, educated his Chassidim to give endlessly, without examining the needy too closely. To this day, the leaders of Satmar Chassidim are considered among the most generous philanthropists in the world. We emphasize that the Rebbe, in his wisdom, does not mention that Rabbi Ya'akov Yosef is the rabbi of Givat Shmuel, because he does not want to grant legitimacy to the 'Zionist' position; he just indicates that the rabbi "resides in Givat Shmuel." In contrast, the Rebbe does point out that Rabbi Ya'akov Yosef was formerly "rabbi of Pest."
