Content of question: In the city of Arad, there were Jews who were lenient and ate the starlet, although it was widely prohibited by the vast majority of Hungarian rabbis. Is it permissible for one who is lenient to eat the fish in a city that strictly forbids it?
In the letter margin, the writer asks the addressee to award the certificate of ‘member’ who one of his disciples.
Harav Avraham Chaim Oppenheim, Av Beis Din of Pécs (1796-1824) authored sefer Har Evel. He was the son of Hagaon Harav Shimon Oppenheim-Kromanau, Rav of Budapest and Av Beis Din of Pécs, Hungary, and taught Torah to the masses. Rav Avraham Chaim passed away at the tragically young age of 28, leaving behind numerous manuscripts as his legacy. One of these, Har Evel, was published by his father who eulogized his beloved son in his preface to the sefer.
