Tommy Bank
John Harper & Company Willenhall, England - Circa 1914 Excellent Plus Condition British military historians have long debated the precise origin of the appellation "tommies" as it relates to the narrative of the average English soldier. Tommy Atkins, a brave and resolute foot soldier from the 32nd Regiment, heroically tried to hold his position during the Sepoy Rebellion in India in 1857. Of course, he was overwhelmed and killed, but many critical testimonials as to his bravery circulated in the British newspapers for months. This is one theoretical supposition.
