A RUSSIAN KARELIAN BIRCH BOX W/ SILVER DECORATION
An antique Russian Karelian Birch box placed on four legs, with a stunning exterior with 84 silver embossed details by Br. Grachev. The factory of brothers Grachev (Brothers Grachev) is undoubtedly considered one of the most famous, outstanding and original enterprises of pre-revolutionary St. Petersburg for the production of items made of silver, gold and electroplating. A box includes many silver embossing and bas-reliefs: there is a silver bear holding fish on the lid. There is a stunning bas-relief of two swans drinking water from a fountain on the box obverse, and an embossed image of a wreath decorated with flowers on both sides of it. All embossed details stamped with Russian hallmarks, 84 Silver mark. Name stamp, Br. Grachev, on the one bas-relief swan.
