 Rabbi Elberg was a good businessman, sadly he and his wife (brilliant professor of Chinese literature) had no children, and used their money to benefit yeshivos. When you go into Sharei Simcha in the Mir in Jerusalem, remember its coca cola that made it possible.

He acquired the rights from Rabbi Gefen of Atlanta, who asked Agudas Harabonim to find a successor. Rabbi Elberg was head of Agudas Harabanim. Presumably Rabbi Geffen being local charged a nominal fee, as rabonim did in the good old days, a New York hashgocha surprised them by how much more he charged.
