(1919 - 2008) New Zealand mountaineer. On 29 May 1953, Hillary and Sherpa mountaineer Tenzing Norgay became the first climbers confirmed to have reached the summit of Mount Everest. Signed color photograph, 4 x 6 in., a waist-up portrait of Edmund Hillary, bearing his signature in black ink 'Ed Hillary'.
