JIMMY DOOLITTLE
(1896 - 1993) American military general and aviation pioneer. He was awarded the Medal of Honor for personal valor and leadership as commander of the Doolittle Raid, a retaliatory air raid on some of the Japanese main islands on April 18, 1942. T.L.S. on his personal letterhead, April 22, 1958, 1 page, in part: 'Thanks for your fine letter...Sorry there wasn't a convenient opportunity to get the autographs of all the boys. I have very pleasant memories of Virginia City which go back over forty years. If you see any of my old friends, please give them my best...' signed in black ink, 'Jimmy Doolittle'. Mailing folds. Includes the original envelope with a typed return address of Jimmy Doolittle.
