After the devastation of European Jewry in the Holocaust, Palestine was to be the next battleground for intra-Jewish ideological struggles. Various Jewish groups competed to care for the orphaned, directionless survivors, seeking to win new adherents to their various causes. Scattered through this pocket calendar are short motivational bursts fitting with the Agudah’s doctrine: “Accepting the Torah made us a nation, and we remain a nation because of the Torah, even if we forget this - study it, for it is our lives!” And: “The Nachshoni Youth, the youth movement of Agudath Yisrael, will bring about the future of the Jewish people. Improve it with a healthy body and strong spirit so it may be an influential governing force in settling the Land.” With a chronological historical chart marking events from the Exodus from Egypt, concluding with: “One year since the downfall of the Nazi-Fascist government and the liberation of Europe.”
