FRANCIS VI OF BEAUHARNAIS
(1756 - 1823) French nobleman, the uncle of Napoleon's step-children, and the eldest brother of Francis V, a president of the National Assembly. Great association A.L.S. on his official letterhead, 2pp. sm. folio, Madrid, March 27, 1808, addressed to the French Army General in Spain about a previous letter sent to the Prince of Peace [referring to MANUEL GODOY (1767 - 1851)] and to PEDRO CEVALLOS (1760 - 1840), the Chief Minister of Spain from 1799 to 1808 during the Napoleonic Wars. The previous letter discussed a transition from French currency to Spanish currency to avoid a substantial loss on army pay. Light spots of non-intrusive staining, else very good.
