(NAPOLEONIC WARS) ROBERT THOMAS WILSON
(1777 - 1849) British general and politician who served in Flanders, Egypt, the Iberian Peninsula, Prussia, and was seconded to the Imperial Russian Army in 1812. Later served as Governor of Gibraltar. Lot of two A.L.S.s, 7pp. total 8vo., one undated, the other Nov. 20, 1823, both in French. In one letter, he addresses the governess of his children, informing her that their mother has died and that he wishes to have the children with him in England. In the second letter, also presumably to the governess, he announces the arrival of his children and describes unpleasant aspects of their return voyage to England. Both letters are mounted to a single, larger leaf. Fine.
