CARDINAL MERCIER WORLD WAR I PROPAGANDA POSTER
Interesting World War I propaganda poster in Spanish, 28 x 10 in., depicting a chest-up image of Cardinal Desire-Joseph Mercier, noted for his staunch resistance to German occupation. The text below, in Spanish, declares: “Cardinal Mercier has petitioned the Food Administration for more groceries for the thousands of famine victims. Eat less wheat – meat - fat and sugar. More shipping for the victims of the war of France-Belgium-Italy.” A publishing line at bottom right identifying the printer as Latham Lithograph Company of New York. Vertical creases, some loss to the edges, else very good.
