ALLGEMEINE-SS OFFICER'S PEAKED VISOR CAP
Allgemeine-SS Officer's Peaked Visor Cap in superlative condition. A superb example of this very desirable cap, constructed of black wool with black felt side band, all faultlessly piped in white. SS eagle and Totenkopf insignia firmly fixed at front, and attached behind the interior lining. A double silver wire-covered chinstrap is firmly attached to two pebbled silver buttons on either side, the buttons affixed with split pins which are original and have indented and stained the leather sweatband over the years. The chinstrap rests upon the cap’s visor, which is constructed of Vulkanfiber, lacquered on the upper surface with a raised ridge along the brim, the reverse is tan in color with expected cross-hatching. Within, the visor bears a diamond-shaped celluloid cover over 'Sonderklasse' in gold letters, the exact same logo used by makers 'AS Berlin'. The center of the pale yellow rayon lining is very lightly sweat-stained, and a small bit of staining has seeped beneath the edges of the celluloid. This fine visor is in absolutely beautiful, near untouched condition, the body and visor virtually untouched, with only the insignia showing slight oxidation. It would be difficult to find a better example.
