LUFTWAFFE DAGGER, SECOND MODEL
Second model Luftwaffe dagger, 10 in. blade, 15 in. overall. The oval pommel depicts a swastika surrounded by oak leaves. Fitted with white celluloid-covered wood grips with a wire wrap that remains in place and tight. The cross guard, depicting a left-facing national eagle in flight with oak leaves on a plain pebbled field, exhibits splendid detail and shows virtually no wear. The pebbled side of the crossguard is likewise excellent. The nickel-finish blade is very good overall, with some spots of darkening and surface wear. The scabbard is pebbled with an oak leaf pattern at the tip and on the hanger band. It is straight with some spots of oxidation. The threading securing the pommel to the hilt is incredibly worn, making the hilt and cross guard very loosely secured to the rest of the dagger. Sold as is.
