OTTO MEISSNER
(1880 - 1953) Nazi Nuremberg defendant who served as Reichsminister and Minister of the Presidential Chancellery. Good-content typed L.S. 'Meissner' on 'Staatsminister a.D.' letterhead, 1p. 4to., Neuhaus by Schliersee, April 25, 1949, to OSWALD VON HOYNINGEN-HUENE (1885-1963), German Ambassador to Portugal from 1934 to 1944 who served alongside Meissner on Paul von Hindenburg’s staff. In addition to sending his own well-wishes, Meissner also writes about his recovery after the Nuremberg trials, in part: '...In terms of health, I have survived the strain and suffering of a four-year internment and the one and a half year Ministries Trial, so I hope that I can quickly recover completely in the beautiful, quiet nature in the mountains and then regain my strength to go to work; various publishers are already applying for the upcoming book, which, as you rightly suspect, wants to do justice to the personality and will of our old revered President...'. Signed at the conclusion in black ink. Shows original mailing folds, else fine.
