(1896 - 1968) Soviet general who held the critical northwest approaches to Moscow, later headed defenses at Stalingrad and near the end of the war encircled and destroyed the German 4th Army. Partly-printed D.S., 1p. legal folio, 1943, promoting the Deputy Head of the Medical Department of the Don Front Roman Plyakin to General-Major of Medical Service. Signed in blue pencil on the verso. Unevenly toned, notable spots of loss at left edge, just good condition.
