(1880 - 1964) American general and Allied Supreme Commander in the Pacific in World War II, accepted the surrender of Japan and was later dismissed by Truman for advocating an invasion of China. His limited edition memoir 'Reminiscences' (New York: McGraw-Hill Book Co.), 1964. 838pp. large 8vo. In beige cloth with gold title on spine, in original publisher’s slipcase. MacArthur has neatly signed the front limitation page, no. 1539/1750 copies. A few tiny spots on slipcase, else very fine.
