(1920 - 2007) U.S. Marine who was part of the combat patrol that climbed Mount Suribachi and raised the first of two U.S. flags on the summit during the battle of Iwo Jima. Fine original signed drawing on a quarto sheet, a simple sketch of an American flag atop Mount Suribachi, captioned: 'First Flag Iwo Jima Feb. 28, 1945, 10:20 A.M.' Lindberg signs his name on the mountain top, and again notes: '1st Flag Raising Iwo Jima Feb. 28, 1945, 10:20 A.M.' Fine.
