BODO ZIMMERMAN
(1886 - 1963) German general and one of the few recipients of both German crosses, in Gold and in Silver. Zimmermann was one of the top planners and staff officers of the war, and served under Rommel, von Rundstedt, and Witzlieben. War-date S.P., 3.25 x 4.25 b/w, showing him seated outdoors and in uniform, signed at bottom with a slightly blurred signature, repaired tear at top. SOLD WITH: a T.L.S., 1p. 4to., Isar, Feb. 21, 1951 in English, forwarding the above photo, noting: '...[it was] made in 1944 two months before the invasion...' He also sets forth critical dates in his career, including: '...From 1940 up to the capitulation I was first operational officer of the Oberfehlshaber West...' Letter is notably damp stained. Two pieces.
