Many buttons have various advertising inscriptions on the reverse, these are inscriptions informing mainly about the high quality of the button itself or, for example, the gold plating.
These inscriptions appear on their own or as a complement to the manufacturer's signatures.
If, apart from advertising inscriptions, the reverse of a button does not contain any other signatures indicating who the button's manufacturer is, it is impossible to indicate a specific manufacturer. < br> It can be assumed that some buttons with the same advertising inscriptions were produced by different manufacturers.
The inscription EXTRA FEIN , meaning exceptionally beautiful (high-quality product), was and is used for a long time (at least from the mid-19th century to the present day) and by many different button makers from Prussia, the German Empire and German. The inscription was often combined with the signatures of a specific manufacturer, as a supplement confirming the high quality of the button.
