Handmade sterling silver Kiddush goblet by Bezalel School, Jerusalem, circa 1950.
On round base decorated with silver filigree and cut diamond shaped silver applications. The stem fitted with Bezalel insignia. The upper portion is acid etched with vine and grapes, decorated with beading, and with three applied plaques; two are Inscribed in Hebrew: "Wine makes glad heart of a man"/ "There isn't happiness without wine", the third plaque depicts panoramic view of Jerusalem, titled in Hebrew: "If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget"
"Then the Lord said to Moses, See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with wisdom, with understanding, with knowledge and with all manner of workmanship - to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of crafts." (Exodus 31, 1-5).
