AN OIL ON TIN PAINTING, DUTCH SCHOOL, 19TH C.
Antique oil on tin painting "The knife grinder". The painting depicts an elderly artisan standing at a mobile grinder. Apparently he came by a house offering his services. A man in a black hat is probably the head of the family depicted with his back turned to the artisan. The young wife put hands on her husband's arms as if asking him to wait for the grinder to finish his job. A small elegantly dressed girl stands next to her. The everyday scene is executed very carefully with great attention to detail.
