Iyov. Warsaw, With a Long Letter in the Author's Handwriting, Warsaw, 1838

Book of Iyov with commentaries by Rabbi Simcha Aryeh of Hrubieszow. Warsaw, 1838. With a long, interesting letter in the author's handwriting.

Specifications: 80 leaves, 21 cm.

Content: The text of the book of Iyov with two commentaries: explanation of the words and explanation of the content. The author, Rabbi Simcha Aryeh son of Rabbi Ephraim Fishel HaLevi of Hrubieszow writes in his introduction that this is the second edition of the book, and even though he has another eight hundred copies of the book, he is reprinting it because the previous edition was printed in Lvov, which is another kingdom, and he is unable to transfer them. The book was printed leaf by leaf and line by line according to the previous edition.

Unique Features: Long three-column letter in the author's handwriting attached to the copy before us. The author sent the letter to his friend Rasi Yaakov Borstinski of Częstochowa, and it deals with a new approach to grammar, similar to what he wrote in his work Mi Male. The recipient of the letter signed his name on the book in Hebrew and Russian, and added comments in several places.

Background: The author published several works, one of which received an approbation from Rabbi Yaakov Orenstein of Lvov, and the Rabbis of the Beit Din of Hrubieszow. He also dealt with grammar and wrote the book Mi Male on roots of words [material about him is enclosed].

Condition: Fine. Aging stains. Minimal worming holes. Worn binding.
