Background: Rabbi Yisrael Alter [1895-1977], the fifth Admor of Gur, was known by the name of his book, Beit Yisrael. He was appointed as Admor in 1948, after his father's passing. He gathered the Gerrer chassidim who had reached Israel before the war around him, as well as Holocaust survivors. He also served as chairman of the Moetzet Gedolei HaTorah.
