Rare Japanese Group Sculpture, Bone and Wood, Meiji Dynasty
Wood integrated bone sculpture, hand crafted carving, depicting the figure of Bodhisattva and Oni imps.
One can see Bodhisattva holding in his hand a carving instrument while carving a wooden image of Oni, with the back of the figure designed in the shape of a sack.
The wooden Oni figure is set with seashell on its eyes, and Mother of Pearl-made teeth.
The Bodhisattva figure has a necklace set with Mother of Pearl.
Dimensions: 25X17 cm.
