Violin German/Hungarian. With restoration label "Krenn". circa.1850.
Description:
Length = 363 mm.
The expert about this violin:
"The violin pictured overleaf bearing a repair label by the Viennese master Josef Krenn, Wien, 1925 is in my opinion a very fine master violin made in the area between Germany, Prague or Hungary around 1850 upon a fictitious Italian model. The violin is original and belonging together in all its essential parts like top, back, ribs and scroll and is today in a very good state of preservation.
The top of two pieces of spruce with fine medium wide grain; the two-piece back of handsome quarter sawn maple with deep irregular medium wide flame; the ribs of maple similar to the back; the scroll of maple showing narrower flames; the largely original varnish worn and of an orange brown colour over a greenish golden ground".
The opinion of the professional violinist: "This is
German-Hungarian instrument. A master who made it is unknown, but we know that master Krenn restorated it in 1925. Condition is very good and sounds wonderful. Magnificent deep bass string, as well as other strings".
Violin with the certificate of authenticity.
