(1795 - 1873) American financier who made his fortune in banking and the railroads, leaving a large portion of it to found the university and hospital which bear his name. Partly-printed D.S. as President of the Baltimore and Ohio Rail-Road Company, 1p. oblong 4to., Baltimore, March 22, 1866, a stock certificate issuing 50 shares to one R.S. Scott, signed at bottom-right. B & O railroad hand cancel and punch cancel overlap the signature, else very good.
