(1923 - 2010) NASA engineer who was in charge of the spacecraft close-out crews for the entire Mercury and Gemini programs and the manned phase of the Apollo program. Often the last person astronauts saw before take-off, the movie 'Apollo 13' made him famous with the line: 'I wonder where Guenter Wendt?' His signed book: 'The Unbroken Chain' (Ontario: Apogee Books), 2001. 216pp. 8vo. with a pictorial dust jacket. Wendt signs in black ink on the title page beneath a dedication, adding his title 'Pad Leader.' Sold with the book's original accompanying CD-ROM. Very fine, with very fine dust jacket.
