CHARLES KINGSFORD SMITH
(1897 - 1935) Pioneering Australian aviator who made the first trans-Pacific flight from the United States to Australia, the first non-stop crossing of the Australian mainland, among other records. Presumed dead when his plane went missing over the Bay of Bengal. Rare vintage blue ink signature on a 3 x 5 in. card, beneath an affixed newspaper photo. The original autograph collector dockets on the verso: 'Send for autograph 6/27/30...received autograph 7/22/30'.
