KING HUSSEIN OF JORDAN
(1935 - 1999) King of Jordan, a political moderate. I.S.P., 7.5 x 9.75 in. color, a bust portrait of Hussein in a business suit, signed along the bottom margin, adding a 'my friend Mr. Troy Bumpus'. Sold with a forwarding letter from Hussein's Chief of Royal Protocol, 1p. 4to., Amman, Nov. 4, 1989, adding: 'His Majesty was saddened to hear of your life-threatening illness and very much hopes that you will make a full recovery, and have the opportunity to resume your activities as the Honorary Speaker of the Indiana House...' - likely given to the child as one of his final wishes. Yet in 1993, Bumpus pleaded guilty to forgery and false representation for mailing letters as a dying child to various celebrities, including Stevie Wonder, Bill Clinton, Gerald Ford, and apparently Hussein, all in pursuit of celebrity mementoes to sell for profit. In fine condition overall.
