PENNSYLVANIA SPINSTER CHARGED WITH 'FORNICATION AND BASTARDY'
Manuscript D.S., 1p. folio, Adams County, PA, April 1863, a Grand Inquest finding that one Maria White, spinster: '...did commit fornication with a certain person to the jurors unknown, and did permit the said person...to beget then and there a female bastard child on the body of the same Maria White...'. One hole, minor spots of ink bleed-through onto the contents, yet the text is still legible. Very good. The Pennsylvania law remained in place until at least 1975.
