LOUIS-ALEXANDRE BERTHIER
(1753 - 1815) Marshall of France who served under Lafayette in the American Revolution, and with Napoleon in Italy and Egypt. Initialed A.L.S. sent to him by one 'Lepinau', commander of the 37th Squadron of the National Gendarmerie, 2pp. 4to., Valenciennes, 1801, a report on surveillance, prisoners, and the ongoing war being waged by Napoleon. Berthier initials the document and adds a numerical docket at the center of the left margin of the first page. Very good.
