(1860 - 1927) American general who, with Theodore Roosevelt, organized and led the Rough Riders, Governor of Cuba and Commander of U.S. forces in the Philippines. T.L.S., 1p. 8vo., Washington, July 22, 1902 to William C. Sanger (1853–1921), Assistant Secretary of War (1901-03) and president of the American delegation to the Geneva Conventions of 1906. Wood regrets that he will be leaving town soon and is unable to visit, and authorizes 'Colonel Scott to continue on the lines on which I have been directed to wind up the business pertaining to the late Military Government of Cuba...'
