ITALIAN ALPINI MEDICAL CORPS OFFICER'S TUNIC
World War II Italian alpine medical corps officer's uniform, including a tunic constructed of a gray wool exterior with a tan rayon lining, fastened with four bakelite buttons at front, with four pleated pockets, each bearing a flap with smaller buttons. The salmon-colored collar tabs each bear a single affixed star, indicating the wearer's role as a medical corps officer within Italy's mountain infantry. A 36th Infantry Division insignia badge has been affixed to the top-right pocket with a bobby pin, certainly added postwar and may not be original to this uniform. A worn and faded manufacturer's tag at the nape of the neck, reads 'Unione Militare'. An ownership tag, found within a vertical slash pocket near the left breast of the tunic's lining, again bears the manufacturer 'Unione Militare', indicating the office of Rome, and bears the hand-inked name of the soldier 'Ambrosetti', the number '1438', and the date '25.4.41'. Slight mothing, else very good to near fine. Sold with the uniform's original gray wool trousers, with manufacturer's tag towards the top of the left leg also reading 'Ambrosetti', with brown bakelite buttons also bearing the name 'Unione Militare'. One button absent, some mothing and slight holes, else very good.
