(SUICIDE RATHER THAN ABANDON HIS JEWISH WIFE) JOACHIM GOTTSCHALK
JOACHIM GOTTSCHALK (1904-1941) Popular German actor persecuted by the Nazis for having a Jewish wife; when his wife and son were ordered to Theresienstadt, he insisted he go with them but Gobbels ordered him to enter the Wehrmacht instead. Gottschalk committed suicide along with his wife and son just moments before the Gestapo arrived in November 1941. Very rare S.P., a printed postcard image of 'Joschy' in head and shoulders, boldly signed in white ink. Fine condition.
